“Trash is not the right place…Understand your E-Waste!”
On the occasion of International E-Waste Day i.e. 14 th October 2023, the Nature Club of PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri launched an E-Waste Collection Drive at the hands of eminent Environment Consultant and Social Activist Mrs. Rashmi Joshi, a recipient of many awards, among which, are the very prestigious Prasar Bharati Swachh Bharat Award and Mahatma Phule
State Award for her commendable contribution in the field of environment protection. She is also associated with the UN and the ‘माझी वसुंधरा’ programme of the Govt. of Maharashtra.
With the help of her impactful PowerPoint Presentation, Rashmi Madam oriented the students towards understanding what is E-Waste, the need to manage E-Waste at home and workplaces, and the hazardous effects of unmanaged E-waste resulting in diminishing loss of natural resources, environmental damage, and health issues. In the programme, the students pledged to be responsible for a better future and dispose of obsolete appliances in an environment-friendly way to protect our Earth.
Students and staff responsibly contributed to this drive as they submitted the non-functional and unwanted household electrical and electronic equipment like mobile phones, toys, calculators, cables, CDs, parts of computers, etc. which weighed almost 30 Kg.
This collection of E-Waste was handed over to a government-approved recycling unit for safe and scientific disposal. The school will receive an appreciation certificate for ‘Responsible Recycling’ for this step towards a safe environment.
