Skill Education for Building a Competent and Competitive Workforce

For empowering students with the necessary competencies to thrive in the 21st century, the fifth day of the Education Week (Friday 26th July 2024) is dedicated to Skill Education. Students were exposed to diverse skill sets, aligning with NEP’s focus on holistic education at PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri, with an array of skill based activities as follows-
1. Introduction to Communication, Sale and Marketing in which students of Std. 6, 7 and 8 participated in role-playing exercises as a part of mock marketing campaign for their products and services.
2. ⁠Learning from Nature- Students of Std. 4 visited the horticulture nursery school with their teacher to develop ecological awareness and creativity.
3. ⁠Learning from household chores- Students of Std.6, 7 and 8 learned sewing techniques as life skills while students of Std.3 and 4 tried their hand at fireless cooking.
4. ⁠Students of Std. 4 were engaged in paper straw craft focused on the development of their fine motor skills, craftsmanship and environmental awareness. This workshop was conducted by the Art teacher Mrs. Ashwini Naravane.
5. ⁠Students of Std. 5 were exposed to Water Testing activity to develop their scientific observations, analytical thinking and attention to detail. Practical demonstration of water purification techniques was provided by the Science teacher Ms. Sneha Dhasade.
6. ⁠First Aid Workshop was conducted for the students of Std.2, 3 and 4 to foster their critical thinking and teamwork by a trained professional in health sector Mrs. Mugdha Rawool who is working as a Nursing Officer at the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thakare Trauma Care Centre, Jogeshwari.
7. ⁠Beauty and Wellness Workshop was conducted for the students of Std. 6 where they were taught personal grooming, hygiene, skin care, hair care and wellness practices by their teacher Mrs. Pratiksha Parshekar.
8. ⁠Robotics and AI Workshop for Std.6 was conducted develop scientific enquiry, research and technical skills by providing them with a hands on learning and technological exploration.
All these activities contributed to strengthening foundation for integrating skill education into mainstream education as envisioned by NEP 2020.
