Choose Health, Choose No Sugar…

To promote healthy eating habits and raise awareness about the ill effects of excessive sugar consumption among students, PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri initiated a campaign – ‘Choose Health, Choose No Sugar…’, the occasion was the ‘World Diabetes Day’ which is observed on 14th November (Sir Frederick Banting’s birthday),

The campaign included various activities which aimed to encourage students to reduce their sugar intake. In a special assembly programme, teacher Mrs. Manasi Sharma shared tips on reducing the risk of diabetes through lifestyle changes.

Students of Std 5 displayed sample alternatives for sugar such as dates, jaggery, honey, stevia powder, etc. and exhibited mouth-watering delicacies  like Modaks, Kheer, Chikki, Kurmura-Peanut Laddoos, Gul-Papadi, Anarase, etc. which were prepared using the sugar alternatives.

A Sugar Board displayed informative charts which highlighted the amount of sugar consumed through processed, packaged food  and drinks.

Students of Std. 4 and Std 6 took a pledge to Eat Less Sugar and make a healthier choice.

With the students of Std. 5 to 9, School Counsellor Mrs. Suchira More discussed the health hazards led by excessive sugar consumption and emphasized on the benefits of a balanced diet and exercise through her PowerPoint presentation.

Through this campaign, the school took a step towards promoting right eating habits a healthier lifestyle among the students.
