National Librarians’ Day
Celebrating National Librarians’ Day 

“Library is the heart of educational Institutions. Well-functioning heart keeps the body healthy & lively. Efficient library creates healthy educational atmosphere!” – Dr. S. R. Ranganathan.
To commemorate Librarians’ Day & pay tribute to Dr. S. R. Ranganathan the father of library Science in India, PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri organized a special event – Tribute to Dr. S. R. Ranganathan. The event paid homage to Dr. Ranganathan’s legacy, highlighting his five laws of Library Science.
The programme began with garlanding the photograph of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan at the hands of Principal Mrs. Mrinalini Mehtre followed by a speech on the occasion by the Librarian Mrs. Swara Jangam.
Master Maitreya Koranne and Miss Manswi Patkure, both of Std 9 spoke about their favourite authors Va. Pu. Kale and Sudha Murthy respectively. Miss. Kavya Maski of Std 6 presented a book review on her favourite book of Moral stories.
The Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and an array of activities. Students
prepared posters also designed covers of their favourite books. New arrivals in the
library were displayed to encourage readers exploring new titles. Students also listed their favourite books. ‘Pause n’ Read’ activity was conducted where students and staff were given a dedicated time slot for reading books.
The event was a meaningful tribute to librarians and highlighted the pivotal role of libraries as centers of learning and knowledge. The celebration served as a reminder of the importance of nurturing a culture of reading & lifelong learning.
