Pulse Power
On 10th February 2025, PTVA’s English medium School, Andheri celebrated World Pulses Day with great enthusiasm and zeal. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of pulses in our daily diet and promote sustainable food systems.
The programme in charge teacher Mrs. Shobhana Madanraj emphasized the importance and nutritional benefits of pulses in our diet. She also highlighted the theme of the day in the year 2025 as ‘Pulses: Bringing Diversity to Agrifood Systems.’
Students participated in classroom activity of identification of various types of pulses on the basis of their size, shape, and colour and texture which include Toor (Pigeon Pea), Chana (Chikpeas), Moong, Masoor (Red Lentil), Kabuli Chana, Rajma (Kidney Beans), Cowpea, Matki (Moth Bean), Urad (Black Lentil), etc.
There was an eye-catching and mouth-watering display of food articles made of pulses as the main ingredients ranging from Dal Khichadi with Veggies, Besan and Moon Chillas, Puran Poli, Dal Dhokla, Pakodas, Dahi Vada, Medu Vada, Besan Laddoos, Moong Dal Halva, etc.
The active participation of students, well supported by their parents definitely had inspired our students to incorporate pulses into their daily lives.
