Seed Balls and Microgreens…S
The Nature Club of PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri aims to make the young students understand and care for nature and its conservation. Understanding nature gives us a better view of the world and enables us to share our responsibilities in maintaining a healthy environment and taking steps to prevent environmental damage individually and collectively.
On 13th February 2024, the proactive nature club of the school organized a seed ball-making workshop for the students of Std. I, II, and III. Environment Activist Mrs. Rashmi Joshi was the resource person who guided the students through the systematic procedure of making seed balls. Seeds of Indigenous trees like करंज, चिंच, सागरगोटा, were used to prepare over 400 seed balls which were handed over to Mrs. Rashmi for cultivating them in nature.
Students of Std. IV, V, VI, and VII learned to grow microgreens as they sowed seeds of jowar, wheat, bajra, and gram. They were made to understand the right way of growing microgreens, the harvesting time and technique, and the high nutritional value of the tender green shoots.
