Vande Mataram – Unity, Pride, Victory!
7th November 2025 marks 150 years since Bankim Chandra Chattopadhay penned ‘Vande Mataram’ on 7th November 1875. It was set to music by Rabindranath Tagore and became a rallying cry of India’s freedom movement, symbolizing unity, strength and devotion to the motherland. This Sanskrit poem symbolizes patriotism and an inspiration to India’s struggle for independence. The poem personifies India as Mother Goddess, celebrating her beauty and bounty. The first two verses were adopted as the National Song of India and it is an integral part of the assemblage of the educational institutes and Government offices.
PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri celebrated 7th November 2025 as a day of special significance by mass singing of the complete version of Vande Mataram with volunteers of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti Mrs. Ridhima Mehendale, Mrs. Vaishali Kajrekar, and Mrs. Nilam Phanase. Also, students were informed about the background of the song composition, its national impact and significance as the voice of India’s soul to keep the spirit of unity and pride alive for future generations.
