“हाथी घोड़ा पालकी…
जय कन्हैया लाल की !!”
Young Gop-Gopikas of PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri celebrated Janmashtami with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Little ‘Radhas’ and ‘Kaanhas’ were decked up in colourful dresses which added a traditional touch to the event. A splash of colour was added to the beautiful display board with handmade craft articles like paper flutes and crowns of Krishna with peacock feathers. The Janmashtami celebration was enhanced by a spectacular cultural programme in the school hall which included a speech on the significance of the day, the thrilling birth story of Krishna, traditional Aarti, a skit on the defeat of the serpent Kaaliya (कालिया मर्दन) which showed the fierce battle between Krishna and Kaaliya and gave a message of the victory of good over evil. A fabulous dance performance showcased Raas-Leela, while the school choir presented a melodious Bhajan ‘गोविन्द बोलो हरी गोपाल बोलो…’ which filled the atmosphere with devotion. The highlight of the programme was ‘Dahi-Handi’ broken by the playful Kanha with his ‘toli’ of Govindas dancing to the tune of ‘गोविन्दा आला रे आला…’The energy was so infectious that everyone in the audience tapped their feet to the catchy song.
