‘National Pet Day’ It takes nothing away from a human to be kind to an animal

National Pet Day is celebrated on the 11th of April every year. It is also known as ‘Love Your Pet Day’.

Pets are an important part of our lives and celebrating National Pet Day gives us an amazing opportunity to show undivided attention to our pets. It also motivates others to adopt pets.

Apart from stealing our hearts, interacting with animals has been shown to decrease levels of cortisol (a stress-related hormone) and lower blood pressure. Other studies have found that animals can reduce loneliness, increase feelings of social support and boost your mood. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people brought pets in their houses. Though the people were quarantined, they found angels in the names of pets. They gave joy and happiness during times of suffering.  The better we understand the human-animal bond, the more we can use it to improve people’s lives.

Developing positive feelings about pets can contribute to a child’s self-esteem and self-confidence. Positive relationships with pets can aid in the development of trusting relationships with others. A good relationship with a pet can also help in developing non-verbal communication, compassion, and empathy.

Let’s take a moment to hug our pets and thank them for being such unconditional companions. And if you’re looking for a new pet, consider adopting one from a local shelter.
