World Book Day: Celebrating the Magic of the Written Word
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” — Dr. Seuss.
Every year, as we celebrate World Book Day, we aren’t just honoring paper and ink, we are celebrating the portal to a thousand different lives. For students and lifelong learners alike, this day serves as a vibrant reminder that between the covers of a book lies the power to travel through time, cross borders without a passport, and find a friend in a complete stranger’s thoughts. In every corner of the world, books act as bridges—connecting people, cultures, ideas, and generations. They are not just a collection of pages, but a treasure of knowledge, imagination, and inspiration. In a fast-moving digital world, books remain our true companions. They inspire us to dream bigger, think deeper, and grow wiser. Every book we read adds a new dimension to our thoughts and shapes who we become. This summer, let the celebration continue beyond the calendar. Pick up a book in a language you’re learning, explore a genre you’ve ignored, or revisit a childhood favourite. Remember, you are never truly alone if you have a book in your hand. The next chapter is yours to write—and to read. On this special day, let us take a moment to appreciate the value of reading. Let us encourage ourselves and others to pick up a book, explore new ideas, and keep the flame of curiosity alive. Because a single book can change a life, and a habit of reading can change the world. On the special occasion of World Book Day, PTVA’s English medium School, Andheri hosted a Book Exhibition to celebrate the joy of reading and the importance of books in our lives. The exhibition showcased a wide variety of books, ranging from storybooks, novels, and biographies to educational and reference materials. It provided a wonderful opportunity for students to interact with books beyond their textbooks and experience the joy of reading. Summer vacation is the perfect time for students to relax, explore new interests, and develop good habits, and reading is one of the best habits to cultivate. As Dr. Seuss had rightly said. So, this summer, let us open a book, turn the pages, and let our imagination soar.
