“Give one hour a day exclusively for book reading and you will become a knowledge centre in a few years!” Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

To encourage the reading habit and keep with the spirit of learning and creativity for success, PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri celebrated 15th October 2024 as ‘Reading Inspiration Day’ on the birth anniversary of former President, great scientist, thinker, writer, motivational speaker and Missile Man of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

As a tribute to this great personality, a special assembly was organised in the school which began with garlanding the photograph of Dr. Kalam at the hands of Principal Mrinalini Mhetre followed by a speech on the occasion by Librarian Mrs. Swara Jangam. Some popular titles of Dr. Kalam were displayed along with colourful bookmarks prepared by the students of grade 5. Inter house Quiz based on the life story of Dr. Kalam was conducted in which students across the grades V to VIII participated enthusiastically.

The highlight of the day was the ‘Reading Hour’ when all the students, teachers and even the non-teaching staff kept aside their routine work and read books of their choice. It was a wonderful time for all as they experienced the tranquillity.

On this occasion, ‘Best Reader’ awards were announced and the winners were given appreciation certificates and prizes. It was truly an inspiring day for the students as they understood that reading is necessary rather than just a hobby.
