Upcycle Today for a Better Tomorrow…

Eco Club of PTVA’s English Medium School, Andheri had organized orientation sessions for the students under the guidance of Environment activist Mrs. Rashmi Joshi. Grade VII and VIII students participated in the Plastic Upcycling workshop where they were explained that plastics in various forms are non-biodegradable and persist in the environment for a very long time. Upcycling of plastic is the creative reuse of transforming plastic waste materials into new materials of better quality and environmental value. A demonstration of making eco-bricks was given to the students and they were encouraged to prepare the same and ideate various projects making use of eco-bricks.

In another session with the students of grades IV, V, and VI, the resource person explained the scientific method of collecting and storing seeds of different vegetables and fruits to grow new plants from the gathered seeds, thus preserving biodiversity. Students were encouraged to collect and preserve seeds to be submitted to the school which will be handed over to the farmers. Science teacher Miss Shweta Yadav handed over Mango and Litchy seeds collected by her to Mrs. Rashmi Joshi.
