Books are my favourite friends, and I consider my home library, with many thousand books, to be my greatest wealth. Every new book, based on some new idea inspires me and gives me a new thought to ponder.

Every year, 15th October, the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Azad, is observed as ‘वाचन प्रेरणा दिन’ (Reading Inspiration Day) at PTVA’s EMS, Andheri.

This year, the day was planned with wonderful activities for the students. Principal Mrs. Mrinalini Mhetre offered a floral tribute to Dr. Kalam to mark the beginning of the special assembly, followed by the inauguration of BOOK CLINIC where students would submit their damaged books, and the trained appointed students – BOOK DOCTORS would repair and return them. The significance of the day was explained by the Librarian Mrs. Swara Jangam inher speech. ‘वाचा आणि लिहा’ : Read and Write is a library activity that encourages students to write about the books they read. Impressive BOOK REVIEWS were presented by Miss Tanisi Kapoor and Master Jay Bandivdekar.

The Librarian announced the BEST LIBRARY READER award to the students who read books and utilize other library resources at a maximum in the most effective manner. This year, Miss Tanisi Kapoor, Miss Urja Ugvekar and MissArpita Mahanti bagged these awards.

To encourage students to read and arouse their interest in books, a BOOK EXHIBITION was organized on the well-decorated library premises which showcased the in-house noteworthy collections and new arrivals covering History, Science, Art, General Knowledge, Novels, Fiction, and Biographies in English, Marathi and Hindi languages. Decorative BOOKMARKS with inspirational quotes prepared by the students were appreciated by the visitors.
